uyir is an AI-powered journaling platform designed to help you reflect, track your mood, and gain personal insights — all in a private, secure environment. We recognise the deeply personal nature of journaling and are committed to protecting your privacy.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the uyir Platform and its Services — including journaling, AI insights, mood tracking, multilingual support, and data export.

By using uyir, you agree to this Privacy Policy. We may update this Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes and update the effective date above.

Important: Please read this Policy before using the uyir Platform or submitting any personal information. This Policy is part of and incorporated within our Terms of Use.

1. Definitions

  • "uyir", "Company", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Introspect Labs LLP.
  • "Platform" refers to the uyir web application accessible at https://uyir.ai/ and any associated digital mediums.
  • "you" and "your" refer to the registered user of the Platform.
  • "Services" refers to all features offered by uyir, including journaling, AI-powered insights, mood tracking, multilingual support, and data export.
  • "Journal Data" refers to any text, voice recordings, mood entries, or other content you create within the Platform.
  • "Policy" refers to this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect From You

  • Account Information— Your name and email address when you register or sign in.
  • Journal Entries— Text entries, voice transcriptions, and any content you write or record in your journal sessions (Daily Check-In, Gratitude Journal, Dream Journal, Shadow Work, Morning Pages).
  • Mood & Emotion Data— Mood ratings, emotional tags, and check-in responses you submit during journaling.
  • Language Preferences— Your selected language for multilingual journaling and interface display.
  • Usage Data— How you interact with the Platform, including features used, session frequency, and settings chosen.
  • AI Interaction Data— Prompts and responses exchanged with the AI journaling assistant to generate insights and reflections.
  • Exported Data— Records of data exports you initiate (e.g., PDF or text exports of your journal entries).

Your Journal is Private: Your journal entries and mood data are personal and sensitive. We do not sell, share, or use your journal content for advertising purposes. AI processing of your entries occurs solely to generate your personal insights.

3. How We Collect Information

  • Directly from you:When you register, write journal entries, record voice notes, set mood ratings, or update your profile and preferences.
  • Automatically:Usage analytics and session data collected as you interact with the Platform (e.g., via analytics tools like Google Analytics).
  • Via AI processing:When you use AI-powered features, your journal content is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to generate insights and reflections. This processing is done on your behalf and is not used to train external models.
  • Authentication providers:If you sign in via a third-party provider (e.g., Google), we receive basic profile information such as your name and email.

4. AI-Powered Insights & Data Processing

uyir uses artificial intelligence to help you reflect deeper on your journal entries. This section explains exactly how your data is processed by AI systems, your rights, and the safeguards in place.

AI Processing Disclosure: When you use AI-powered features in uyir, your journal text is transmitted to OpenAI's API servers for processing. This transmission occurs only when you explicitly trigger an AI feature (e.g., "Enhance Entry", "Get Insights", or voice transcription). Your data is never sent to AI systems automatically or in the background.

  • What triggers AI processing:AI processing is always user-initiated. It occurs only when you tap or click an AI feature such as journal enhancement, guided reflection prompts, mood insights, or voice-to-text transcription. Passive browsing, reading, or writing does not trigger any AI processing.
  • What data is transmitted:Only the specific journal entry text (or audio recording) you submit for that AI action is sent. No other entries, your mood history, account details, or personal identifiers are included in the AI request.
  • Third-party AI processor (OpenAI):Your journal content is processed by OpenAI, L.L.C. (San Francisco, CA, USA) via their API. OpenAI acts as a data processor on our behalf. Under OpenAI's API data usage policy, data submitted via the API is not used to train OpenAI's models by default. Please review OpenAI's API Data Usage Policy for full details.
  • Voice transcription:If you use voice journaling, your audio recording is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription. The audio file is not stored by uyir or OpenAI after transcription is complete. Only the resulting text transcript is saved to your journal.
  • Data retention by AI provider:OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for safety and abuse monitoring purposes, after which they are deleted. uyir does not control OpenAI's internal retention practices beyond what is stated in their API policy.
  • Purpose limitation:AI processing is used solely to generate personalised insights, reflections, and prompts for your own benefit. We do not use AI outputs for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than delivering the feature you requested.
  • Opt-out:AI features are entirely optional. You may use uyir for journaling and mood tracking without ever triggering AI processing. Simply do not use AI-powered actions (enhancement, insights, voice transcription) if you prefer your entries to remain entirely on uyir's servers.
  • Cross-border data transfer:OpenAI's servers are located in the United States. By using AI features, you consent to your journal content being transferred to and processed in the United States, subject to OpenAI's data processing terms and applicable data protection laws.

Your control: You are always in control of when AI processes your data. If you have questions about how a specific AI feature works or want to request deletion of any AI-processed data, contact us at contact@introspectlabs.ai.

5. Mood Tracking Data

uyir includes mood tracking as part of your daily journaling experience. We collect and store:

  • Mood ratings and emotional tags you submit during check-ins
  • Mood trends over time to display your personal wellbeing dashboard
  • Correlations between mood entries and journal content (processed locally or via AI insights)

Mood data is stored securely in your account and is never shared with third parties for advertising or profiling purposes.

6. Multilingual Support & Language Data

uyir supports journaling in multiple languages. In relation to this feature:

  • Language preference:Your selected language is stored as part of your account preferences and used to personalise your journaling experience.
  • Content in your language:Journal entries written in any supported language are stored and processed in that language. AI insights are generated in your chosen language where supported.
  • No language profiling:Your language choice is not used to infer ethnicity, nationality, or any other sensitive characteristic.

7. Data Export

You have full ownership of your journal data. uyir provides a data export feature that allows you to:

  • Export your journal entries in PDF or text format
  • Download your mood history and insights
  • Access a complete copy of your personal data stored on the Platform

8. How We Use Your Information

  • Providing Services— To operate your journal, generate AI insights, track mood trends, and personalise your experience.
  • Account Management— To manage your account, authenticate your identity, and communicate important updates.
  • Product Improvement— To understand how features are used and improve the Platform. This is done using aggregated, anonymised data only.
  • Security— To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorised access to your account.
  • Legal Compliance— To comply with applicable laws and regulations.

9. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • AI Provider (OpenAI):Journal content is sent to OpenAI's API solely to generate your personal insights. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models.
  • Infrastructure Providers:We use Supabase for secure database hosting and authentication. Your data is stored on their servers under strict data processing agreements.
  • Analytics:Aggregated, anonymised usage data may be shared with analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics) to help us understand Platform usage.
  • Legal Authorities:If required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.
  • Business Transfers:If uyir is acquired or merges with another entity, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, with equivalent privacy protections.

10. Data Security

We take the security of your personal and journal data seriously. Our measures include:

  • Encrypted data storage via Supabase (AES-256 at rest)
  • Secure HTTPS connections for all data in transit
  • Row-level security (RLS) policies ensuring you can only access your own data
  • Authentication via Supabase Auth with session management

No transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Authenticate and maintain your session
  • Remember your language and display preferences
  • Analyse site traffic and usage patterns

You can modify your browser settings to decline cookies, though some features of the Platform may not function correctly without them.

12. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access:Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction:Update or correct inaccurate information in your account settings.
  • Deletion:Request deletion of your account and all associated data, including journal entries and mood history.
  • Data Portability:Export your journal data at any time using the in-app export feature or by contacting us.
  • Opt-out of AI features:You may choose not to use AI-powered journaling features without losing access to core journaling and mood tracking.

13. Email Communications

We may send you emails related to your account, such as onboarding guidance, product updates, or important notices. To opt out of non-essential communications, please email contact@introspectlabs.ai. We will continue to send essential transactional messages (e.g., account security alerts).

14. Third-Party Links

Our Platform may contain links to third-party websites or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

16. Jurisdiction

This Policy is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising under this Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Karnataka, India.
